4 ways to *energize* your brand

She called me the F-Word…

“Ohhhh so you mean you're a freelancer. You don't have employees.”

As a small-but-mighty agency, led by our founding lady Olivia Ives-Flores, OH! Art Agency has run into this label before, as many creatives operating in unconventional yet innovative ways have.

“Yeah. But if you don’t have employees, that means you’re freelance.”

Now let’s be clear, freelance is in no way a dirty word. In fact, in today’s creator economy freelancers make the world go round. We all witnessed the great recession release the floodgates of entrepreneurial curious creators, side-giggers, and tenured talents that were just ready to do their own thing. The consensus is out - it's a V cool time to be a creative company of 1 with an internet connection and a bright idea.

The point is, nowadays, the concept of a company is more nuanced. Call it the post-covid era, the new normal or the robot revolution, but business models have profoundly changed.

Here is your invitation to reimagine “business-as-usual".

So, what’s the solution? Creative collaboration and curiosity with a hint of matchmaking.

With the vast range of digital tools available today– global relationships are an Instagram DM away. OH! Art Agency has an international network of designers, filmmakers, photographers, writers and more to curate the perfect team for each project. When it’s time to build the dream team for a client project, we customize teams based on style, skills, and even personality. The benefit for the client is bespoke agency quality results with a global perspective without the overhead. Pretty sweet!

Here are some questions to ask.

  • Are there any places in your business or life that may benefit from a new perspective or collaboration?

  • How could partnership align or support what you’re working on?

  • When you need to bounce an idea off of someone who do you call?

Here are a few simple ways to invite this new energy in and get inspired:

  1. 🧐 BE A CREATIVE DETECTIVE

DM a past collaborator or favorite creator (the one you regularly stalk). Ask about their creative process and what's working for them.

  2. ☕️ MAKE A DATE

Invite 1 new person for a (virtual) coffee – building real connections is fundamental to brand longevity.

*I personally try to schedule creative coffee-chats with URL and IRL friends weekly.*

  3. 🙌 BE OF SERVICE

Is there someone who could use your help, learn from your experience or benefit from a connection you can extend for them? What goes around comes around.

  4. 👀 INTEGRATE FRESH PERSPECTIVES

Bring someone onto the team who offers new insight and skills that may be beneficial to your company. Or even simpler, do some audience outreach (make an IG poll, do a Q&A IG live, hire brand ambassadors, invite some fresh faces to a story-takeover…)

P.S. Speaking of DMs, send us a message at @ohartagency, we love talkin’ shop! 💌
